Key Moment:
Gerardo Bonilla (#54) beat
Casey Neal (#94) into Turn One on the re-start. Moments later, Neal
overcooked Turn 9 trying to pass Bonilla for the lead and instead
went mudbogging, allowing Matt Varsha into P2. Neal finished P3
SEBRING, Fla. - It what was the shortest
Skip Barber National race in its six-year history, Gerardo Bonilla
overcame very wet, slippery conditions at Sebring International
Raceway to win round one of the 14-race championship. A first-lap red
flag halted the proceedings (two different incidences), and with a
time-certain schedule, there was no stopping the clock. So on the
re-start, we watched Bonilla beat Matt Varsha and Casey Neal in what
was officially a four lap, 15-mile event. Full report in tomorrow's
two-race re-cap.
